How to Become a Social Entrepreneur | Step 1 – Research
When creating your nonprofit or becoming a Social Entrepreneur, you need to ensure you take your time with your research. Study the different types of nonprofits, charities and causes within your concentrated field. There are tons that don’t have an internet presence (i.e. – social media or websites), and you will have to find them through charitable databases. Unfortunately, this is not fail-proof.
Some of your best research will come from networking and speaking with local professionals. Don’t be scared to get out there and see if your vision has been discovered. Surprisingly enough, quite a bit of 501c’s are covert. Depending on the geographical area and the cause, a variation or subset of the cause you want to do may be down the street or on the other side of the state.
Therefore, exhaust every possible research outlet you access. Those resources are libraries, foundations, colleges, and governments. Do-Your-Research!
REMEMBER– To learn how to become a Social Entrepreneur, be careful of the advice you receive. Make sure it’s uplifting, empowering and constructive. If you stay focused on the results, you’ll accomplish the goals you set for yourself and/or your cause.
