Elliot for Water

by nathanwebster in SEwNAW Podcast

How would you react if I told you that you could become a superhero and change the life of 800 million people? According to WHO, this is the number of people who still live without access to safe drinking water. Now, thanks to Elliot For Water, you can directly impact all those lives by simply searching the web.

Elliot for Water, in fact, is a search engine just like Google, the difference is, it donates 1 liter of water every time you search the web. The search engine allocates 60% of its profit to finance clean water projects in developing countries.

The way it works is pretty simple, you search the web, ads generate money, and this money goes to the water projects.

So far Elliot for Water has reached 400,000 people, provided a village in Guinea-Bissau with two seasons of seeds to allow for agriculture and installed bases to initiate drilling and provide safe water to 200 people in a Guinea-Bissau village with our charity partner, Well Found.

Elliot For Water has been founded by Andrea Demichelis, a 24-year-old Italian man striving to leave a positive impact in the world. Born in a small seaside town in the western Italian coast, he packed his belongings after high school and moved to Paris to study and start working as a Stockbroker. However, during the last year of University, Andrea came to the realization that a different type of business was possible: a business where success and giving back went hand in hand. With this new concept in his mind, he understood that he was not supposed to follow the Wall Street path, but rather should create something of his own. Soon enough, this “something of his own” became “something that could really impact the world” and he ended up creating his first entrepreneurial project, Elliot For Water.
